good news iran: Iran’s Africa / Colorful deserts of Semnan Province

Tehran (ISNA) – Semnan Province is called the Africa of Iran because of having many desert regions.
Located in the south of the Alborz mountain range, the province is 96,000 square kilometers in extent, covering 5.6 percent of Iran’s total area.
It is the sixth biggest province of Iran, and its desert regions cover over half of its extent.
Besides, Semnan has a diverse climate due to being situated near the Alborz mountain range.
Most desert areas of the province like Raml and Rig-e Jenn deserts have a geomorphological significance which is very attractive to visitors.
