Hashemiyeh Motaghian made history by winning a gold medal in the women’s javelin – F55 with a throw of 24.50 meters.

Motaghian won the gold medal on Tuesday competing with nine other shooters.

With a throw of 24.5m in javelin –F55 category, she gained the gold medal and improved the world record by 47 centimeters.

Motaghian grabbed the first-ever gold medal of Iran in the women’s section of the athletics of the Paralympics Games.

Raissa Rocha Machado from Brazil received the silver medal with a throw of 24.39m while the bronze medal went to Diana Dadzite from Latvia with a throw of 24.22m.
