good news iran: “Sunless Shadows” invited to Krakow Film Festival

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian documentary “Sunless Shadows” directed by Mehrdad Oskouei will be screened at the non-competing section of the 61st Krakow Film Festival in Poland.

“Sunless Shadows” will be screened at the Festival Award Winners section. This series includes films already appreciated and awarded at prestigious documentary and short film festivals around the world. It is a great opportunity to catch up and see the most recognized titles of the year.

The 61st Krakow Film Festival (61st KFF) shall be held between 30 May and 6 June 2021. The festival aims to review and promote documentary films, short animations and fiction films. The films are screened in both competitive and non-competitive sections. The 61st KFF is a hybrid festival offering screenings in cinemas as well as online.

Last year, “Sunless Shadows” won student jury award as well as the Silver Horn for the director of the film on social issues at the 60th Krakow Film Festival.

“Sunless Shadows” is about an Iranian juvenile detention center in which adolescent girls serve sentences for the crime of murdering fathers, husbands or male family members. The all-female prison is also a shelter from an aggressively male-dominated society. Through frank conversations and playful interactions, the girls open up about the consequences of, and sometimes the reasons for, their action.
