Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has held talks with Serbian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Orlić, discussing issues of mutual interest particularly those related to cooperation in parliamentary diplomacy.
Amir-Abdollahian conveyed the greetings of Iran’s parliament speaker to his Serbian counterpart and described the actions of the two countries regarding parliamentary cooperation as important.
Given the formation of the new round of the Serbia-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Serbian legislative body, Amir-Abdollahian voiced hope that the friendship groups in the parliaments of the two nations will benefit from their precious possibilities in order to remove obstacles and create a platform for promoting their ties.
The top Iranian diplomat described the level of bilateral relations in various political, economic and cultural fields as excellent.
Amir-Abdollahian further expressed hope that the Tehran-Belgrade ties will expand significantly thanks to coordination between the two sides.
In the meeting which was held in the presence of the head of the Serbia-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Serbian legislature, Orlić said his country’s legislative body believes it is highly important to expand their cooperation with the Iranian side. He noted that the parliaments of Iran and Serbia play an important role in paving the way for expansion of cooperation.
In the meeting, the head of the Serbia-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group also expressed pleasure at Amir-Abdollahian’s visit and described previous cooperation between the friendship groups of the two sides as positive.
The official then said it is important for Tehran and Belgrade to exchange parliamentary delegations for the purpose of continuing cooperation and boosting their ties.
Sara Fallahi, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, was also present in the meeting.
