Iran VP for Parliamentary Affairs arrives in Brasília

Tehran (ISNA) – Iran’s Vice President for Parliamentary Affairs, Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini has arrived in Brasília to attend the inauguration ceremony of Brazilian President-elect Lula da Silva.

Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini was welcomed by deputy Minister and Director General of Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and Iranian ambassador to Brasília, Hossein Gharibi.

Lula da Silva, a leftist politician, succeeded in defeating Jair Bolsonaro​​ in the presidential elections.

Lula da Silva is going to be inaugurated as the 39th President of Brazil on January 1, 2023.

He served as Brazil’s president from 2002 to 2010, when the bilateral relations between Brasilia and Tehran witnessed a significant boom.

In addition to participate in the inauguration ceremony, Hosseini in scheduled to meet with some heads of state and senior officials present at the ceremony.

Meeting with resident Iranians and reviewing ways to develop bilateral cooperation, especially in economic field during negotiations with the officials from the host country will be among the other plans of the vice president in Brasilia.
