Kanaani says Iran welcomes any positive move in relations with Egypt

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani emphasized, “Tehran welcomes any positive move and developments that leads to the formation of a positive atmosphere in Iran-Egypt relations”.

Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Kanaani said, “As you know, Foreign Ministers of Iran and Egypt held talks on the sidelines of the Baghdad 2 summit. The negotiations were positive and full of interest”.

“Also, other negotiations have been recently held at bilateral levels as well as joint consular issues of the two countries,” he added.

“At the same time, the government of Iraq and especially the Prime Minister of this country announced that Iraq is ready to assist in the formation of dialogues between the authorities of Iran and Egypt. Iran welcomes any positive developments in Iran-Egypt relations,” he continued.

He then read the statement of Iranian Foreign Ministry on the commemoration of the third anniversary of the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

Kanaani stressed that Iran will continue to pursue a legal case against individuals and entities involved in the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani until a final redress is granted.
