Iran ready to provide more facilities for visits by citizens of Iran, Uzbekistan: FM

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov exchanged views over bilateral ties as well as important regional and international developments.

The meeting took place in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent.

In the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian congratulated Saidov on Uzbekistan’s successful hosting of the meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization’s foreign ministers.

He referred to the meeting between the presidents of Iran and Uzbekistan in the city of Samarkand and said such meetings would expand ties between Tehran and Tashkent more than ever before.

Amir-Abdollahian added that Iran is happy with the growing trend of interactions between the two countries at bilateral, regional and international levels.

He however noted that much work remains to be done to reach the desirable level given the huge potentials of the two countries.

The top Iranian diplomat said Iran is ready to provide more facilities for visits by the citizens of Iran and Uzbekistan.

He then said Tehran is ready for joint investment with Uzbekistan in the fields of agriculture and construction and also for the expansion of transit and energy cooperation.

Uzbekistan’s foreign minister, for his part, said he was pleased with the growing trend of ties and cooperation between his country and Iran in different spheres and highlighted the importance of this cooperation for the prosperity of the two nations.

He said Uzbekistan is interested in cooperating with the Islamic Republic of Iran in exploring ways of expanding relations as much as possible and implementing the agreements signed already by the two sides.

Saidov added that fortunately, 2022 was a rich and fruitful year in bilateral relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Uzbekistan, and next year, Tashkent and Tehran want to draw up various documents and hold meetings between their officials.
