Iranian FM invites Irish counterpart to visit Iran

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abadollahian responded to a telephone call from his Irish counterpart Michael Martin and the two top diplomats discussed the most important issues of mutual interest.

Amir-Abdollahian congratulated Mr. Martin on his appointment as Ireland’s new foreign minister and expressed hope that with him in the post, ties between the two countries will expand more than ever before.

Amir-Abdollahian said the Islamic Republic Iran is ready for a new round of political consultations with the Republic of Ireland.

Amir-Abdollahian also invited Mr. Martin to visit Iran.

The top Irish diplomat, for his part, thanked Amir-Abdollahian for congratulating him on his appointment to the post. Mr. Martin described Iran as a country with an ancient history and civilization, saying, “I have always held Iran in high regard for its shining history and culture.”

He also discussed the latest state and most pressing consular issues between the two sides.
