Iran unveils underground tactical air base

Tehran (ISNA) – Iran unveiled an underground tactical air base named “Eagle 44” on Tuesday, with several high-ranking military officials including the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri in attendance.

“Eagle 44” tactical air base can be used by all types of fighters and bombers as well as drones.

The underground air base has facilities such as command posts, fighter maintenance hangars, aircraft maintenance centers, navigation and airport equipment, fuel tanks, etc.

The air base’s key characteristic is its location in the mountains and in the depths of the earth.

“Eagle 44” is one of several underground tactical air bases of the Air Force that have been built in different regions of the country in recent years. The construction of these bases in different places according to the needs and with a high safety factor due to the design and deployment under the mountains provides the ability to carry out surprise air operations from a place and time far from the expectations of the enemies.

Deputy Commander in Chief of the Army Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Dadres, Advisor to the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Brigadier General Amir Hatami, and Commander of the Air Force Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi were also present at the ceremony.
