Tensions in Caucasus serve no countries’ interest: Shamkhani

Tehran (ISNA) – The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan held a meeting with Iran’s secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani in Tehran to discuss bilateral and regional issues.

Ali Shamkhani said, “Stability in political and economic interactions of both countries is one of the most important characteristics of friendly interaction between Tehran and Yerevan,” as referring to historic ties and cultural bonds between the two countries.

He went on to say, “Tensions and conflicts serve the interest of no countries. Any geographical change in South Caucasus is an escalating action. In addition, dialogue and interactions should be replaced with every difficult approach to put an end to regional challenges”.

Shamkhani noted, “As the Caucasus region is in a sensitive situation, Azerbaijan and Armenia should resolve the tensions by showing constraint”.
