Iranian documentary “Mrs. Iran’s Husband” wins at Hot Docs Int’l Documentary Festival

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian short documentary “Mrs. Iran’s Husband” directed by Marjan Khosravi was awarded at 30th Hot Docs International Documentary Festival.

“Mrs. Iran’s Husband” is sixth film which was directed by Marjan Khosravi. The Iranian short documentary has been inspired by “Madam Ahou’s Husband”, a novel written by Ali Mohammad Afghani.

“Mrs. Iran’s Husband” narrates the story of Sultan Mohammad and his family members. To get into details, Sultan Mohammad’s kingdom is on the mountain, and it includes two wives, Iran and Sara and 11 children, and his flock of sheep. Like all rulers, he strives to maintain his power and assets, but the role and duty of maintaining his prestige and power lies mainly on the shoulders of her wives. To expand his territory, he intends to marry for the third time.

Marjan Khosravi directed some other documentaries and short films which were awarded previously. “The Snow Calls” could achieve Best Documentary Feature at 2021 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival. Also, “The Dream of a Horse” is a nominee as Best Short Documentary at 2023 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival. Moreover, her masterpiece known as “Vadiyar” was awarded Best Short Film at 2022 Roshd International Film Festival.

Hot Docs was founded in 1993 by the Documentary Organization of Canada (formerly the Canadian Independent Film Caucus), a national association of independent documentary filmmakers. In 1996, Hot Docs became a separately incorporated organization with a mandate to showcase and support the work of Canadian and international documentary filmmakers and to promote excellence in documentary production. Also, the Festival took place April 27 to May 7, 2023, according to its official website.
