Tehran (ISNA) – Based on the report of ISC, Dr. Mohammad Javad Dehghani the president of ISC announced that Leiden ranking system has published the ranking results of the world’s top universities in 2021.
He said, “In Leiden’s recent published ranking results, 36 universities from Iran were among the 1,225 top universities in the world. In Leiden’s 2021 ranking results, Iran is ranked first among Islamic countries with respect to the number of universities, Turkey with 32 universities is ranked second and Egypt with 8 universities is ranked third”.
Dr. Dehghani added, “This ranking system, unlike other ranking systems in the world, does not calculate a single rank for the universities, but universities are ranked in all the existing criteria and indicators in Leiden system separately”.
The Iranian universities which are present in Leiden 2021 are University of Tehran, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Amirkabir University of Technology, Tarbiat Modares University, Sharif University of Technology, Isfahan University of Technology, Iran University of Science and Technology, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Shiraz University, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, University of Tabriz, Shahid Beheshti University, Medical Sciences University of Tabriz, Islamic Azad University (Science and Research Branch of Tehran), Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, KN Toosi University of Technology, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, University of Guilan, University of Kashan, University of Isfahan, Iran University of Medical Sciences, Semnan University, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, Urmia University, Razi University, Payame Noor University, Bu-Ali Sina University, Babol Noshirvani University of Technology, University of Shahrood, Malek Ashtar University of Technology, Shahid Chamran University of Ahwaz, Sahand University of Technology, University of Zanjan, University of Mazandaran and Yazd University. Overall, in Leiden 2021 ranking, most of the Iranian universities have improved their status in comparison to 2020.

The president of ISC said, “With the presence of 36 universities in Leiden ranking system, Iran, as in the previous years, ranks first among Islamic countries in terms of the number of top universities. After Iran, Turkey and Egypt are ranked second and third with 32 and 8 universities, respectively. The chart below shows the number of universities in Islamic countries in the Leiden ranking 2021”.
