Iranian Muay Thai athlete Saba Chenari passes away

Saba Chenari, a prominent Iranian Muay Thai athlete and silver medalist at the 2022 World Muay Thai Championships in Abu Dhabi, died on Wednesday night, October 22, following a sudden heart condition.

In a condolence statement, the Ministry of Sports and Youth expressed its deep sorrow over her untimely passing, extending sympathies to her family, the national sports community, and the Muay Thai Federation of Iran.

The ministry described Chenari as a “talented athlete,” calling her loss “a painful tragedy for Iranian sports.” It also prayed for divine mercy upon her soul and patience for her grieving family.
