good news iran: “Ballad of a White Cow” ranked third at Berlinale Competition Audience Award

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian feature film “Ballad of a White Cow” directed by Behtash Sanaeeha, Maryam Moghaddam was ranked third at the 2021 Berlinale Competition Audience Award.

Of the 15 films in the Competition, the movie-goers were able to choose the winning film of the 2021 Berlinale Competition Audience Award. 8,498 ballots were counted.

The 2021 Berlinale Competition Audience Award went to German feature film “Mr Bachmann and His Class” directed by Maria Speth.

The second and third place of the 2021 Berlinale Competition Audience Award went to another German film “I’m Your Man” directed by Maria Schrader and “Ballad of a White Cow” from Iran respectively.

The synopsis of “Ballad of a White Cow” read, “Mina’s life is turned upside down when she learns that her husband was innocent of the crime for which he was executed, so she starts a silent battle against a cynical system for her own and her daughter’s sake.”

The cast includes Maryam Moghadam, Alireza Sani Far, and Pouria Rahimi Sam.

The 71st Berlin International Film Festival took place in two stages. From March 1 to 5, 2021, the 71st Berlinale was launched with an Industry Event for film professionals and accredited representatives of the press. The Summer Special for the general public was started on June 9 and finished on June 20.
