Tehran (ISNA) – Ambassador and permanent representative of Iran to the International Organizations in Vienna, Kazem Gharibabadi announced that Iran had nine days ago informed the UN nuclear watchdog of its intention to fabricate a silicide fuel plate for Tehran Research Reactor (TRR).
“Silicide fuel is a modern type of nuclear fuel whose technology is in the hands of a few countries,” he said.
Mentioning that Iran had started the research and development process in this regard with natural uranium since three months ago, Gharibabadi added, “In the new process, a new fuel plate will be produced by using 20 percent enriched uranium”.
“This move will significantly improve quality and quantity of radiopharmaceuticals and put the Islamic Republic of Iran among the countries pioneer in nuclear technology,” he stressed.
