Iranian Deputy FM: Iran biggest victim of chemical weapons in contemporary history

Tehran (ISNA) – Reza Najafi, Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry for Legal and International Affairs held a meeting with Fernando Arias, Director General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on the second day of Chemical Weapons Convention’s Fifth Review Conference.

Reza Najafi called on the Director General of OPCW to continue his massive efforts to fulfill urgent medical needs of chemical veterans, as elaborating on the consequences of unilateral cruel sanctions of the America against the medical procedure of the veterans.

The Iranian diplomat stressed that Iran is the biggest victim of chemical weapons in the contemporary history, while noting that the ultimate goals of the Chemical Weapons Convention would not be accomplished without complete destruction of all forms of chemical weapons stockpile.

The Director General of OPCW, in his turn, said that he would continue talks with the relevant sides, as emphasizing to tackle medical needs of the chemical victims.
