good news iran: ‎23rd Iran’s International Storytelling Festival to be held virtually ‎

At the news conference of the ‎‎23rd edition of Iran’s International Storytelling Festival, CEO of the Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (CIDCYA) Mehdi Ali-Akbarzadeh said: “Due to coronavirus pandemic we had to hold this edition of the festival in three stages of provincial, Iranian and International. Among 27000 works which were submitted to the festival finally 81 Iranian and foreign storytellers reached the final stage.

 

“Storytelling festival has turned to a special brand for CIDCYA and this year we will have storytellers coming from five continents of the world. The judgment of the works has been centralized which is closer to justice. On the other hand, we tried to update and change the criteria for judging the works to have the least mistakes in the process.”



He further referred to “essay-writing” and “storytelling with gesture” as the new sections of the 23rd edition of Iran’s International Storytelling Festival which shows that the festival has evolved to become an event of research in story and storytelling. These essays and researches will be published in a book titled ‘Story Seeker’.



Among the foreign storytellers of the festival are: Usha Venkatraman and Devaki Bhujang Gajare from India, Marcela Sabio from Argentina, Beatriz Quintana Valle from Cuba, Raquel Lopez Cascales from Spain, Ruben Corbett from Mexico, Baeletsi Tsatsi from South Africa, Argin Kubin from Turkey, Ahmad Rashedi from Oman, Raida Guermazi from Tunisia, Boniface Ofogo from Cameroon, Haytham Shokry from Egypt and Patrick Mohr from Switzerland.
