good news iran: Iran unveils first home-grown marine diesel engine

The first Iranian-made marine diesel engine was unveiled on Tuesday while two overhauled destroyers joined the army naval forces.

The ceremony in Bushehr was attended by Iranian Army’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani and Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari.

The first home-grown diesel marine engine entitled “Makran” with a power of 3600 hp was unveiled in the event. It is capable of increasing the speed of military vessels up to 30 knots. Previously, the speed of these vessels was 15 knots.

Stating that the diesel engine is fully designed and built by the young experts inside Iran, Admiral Irani said that the parts of this engine are completely Iranian-made and will be installed on the first Iranian guided missile destroyer.

Also, two overhauled guided missile destroyers, Gorz and Khanjar joined the army naval forces in the ceremony.
