Tehran (ISNA) – Russian deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin held a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran on Saturday, on the sidelines of a meeting of the National Coordinators of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations.

During the talks, Amir-Abdollahian said, “Western countries, led by the United States, are after gaining dominance over the world and are against the independent countries. The Tehran meeting’s stance on opposition to unilateralism process and cruel sanctions was an important message from the countries participating in the meeting.”

He expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral ties with Russia and the successful holding of the Joint Cooperation Commission of the two countries, emphasizing cooperation within multilateral frameworks in order to resolve problems through peaceful means.

For his part, Vershinin said Iran and Russia have common views and approaches on many important regional and international topics.

He said Western sanctions are in line with the agenda of dominating the world and a media war waged by America and NATO meant to influence the youth and break apart generations.
