FMs of Iran, Belgium discuss bilateral relations

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Belgian counterpart, Hadja Lahbib held a phone conversation, exchanging views on significant bilateral, regional and international developments.

Amir-Abdollahian described long-running relations between Iran and Belgium as a good opportunity for the continuation of constructive exchanges and negotiations between the two sides.

He welcomed an expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Brussels in various political, economic and cultural fields, based on mutual respect and interests.

For her part, the top Belgian diplomat highlighted the significance of the history of ties between Iran and Belgium and the regional role of the Islamic Republic.

She said the continuation of contacts between the two states as well as knowledge of the realities in Iran can play an important role in developing a correct understanding of the developments.

The two foreign ministers also discussed the most important topics on the agenda of bilateral relations, including consular issues.
