Iranian FM criticizes EU’s Council of Ministers

Tehran (ISNA) – In a phone call, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Irish counterpart, Simon Coveney held talks on bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues.

The top Iranian diplomat criticized some political stunts staged by the European Union’s Council of Ministers under the guise of human rights.

Responding to a question posed by his Irish counterpart, Amir-Abdollahian thanked Ireland for its previous efforts on the path of dialog toward a removal of anti-Iran sanctions.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran stands ready for a good, sustainable and strong agreement and sees diplomacy as the right path, but it will never retreat from its redlines, which are meeting the interests of the people,” he added.

For his part, the Irish foreign minister pointed to his trip to Tehran last year, presenting his country’s views on the most significant regional and international issues and well as the topics on the agenda of bilateral Tehran-Dublin relations.
