Iran, Pakistan hold fresh round of political consultations
Tehran (ISNA) – The 12th round of political consultations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was held with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri and Pakistani Foreign Secretary Asad Majeed Khan in attendance.
At the meeting, a broad range of bilateral political, economic, military and security issues were discussed and the two sides also exchanged views about the latest regional and international developments.
Bagheri noted at the meeting that the expansion of cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad in all fields will be beneficial for both nations and will help bolster stability and security in the region. He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is firmly resolved to expand such cooperation with Pakistan more than ever before.
The Pakistani foreign secretary also described bilateral ties between Iran and Pakistan as important and said his country is determined to boost bilateral and regional cooperation with Iran. Asad Majeed Khan expressed hope that the Iran-Pakistan ties will continue its growing trend.
During this round of talks, the two sides agreed to form working committees to give momentum to their relations in all political, economic and cultural areas. The committees are meant to review all existing agreements, implementation of which have been delayed, and to provide officials of the two countries with a solution.
