Reports of Rescuer Vessel Naji 15 Sinking Denied / Transferred to Shahid Rajaee Port for Repairs

On Sunday, June 23, 2024, the Public Relations Office of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Hormozgan Province issued an official statement firmly denying rumors circulated in some media and online platforms regarding the sinking of one of its rescue vessels. The claims were described as false and lacking credibility.
According to Good News Agency, the statement explained that Naji 15, a rescue vessel affiliated with the Hormozgan Maritime Search and Rescue Center, struck a hard object at sea in the early hours of June 22 while on a mission to transfer an injured sailor. As a result, the vessel sustained minor damage and partial flooding in the engine room and stern.
The center reported that an alternate vessel was immediately dispatched, and the injured sailor was safely and successfully transferred. Meanwhile, the damaged vessel was towed to the Shahid Rajaee Marine Repair Yard for technical assessment and underwater repairs.
The Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organization emphasized that Naji-class rescue vessels are structurally designed and equipped with internal safety systems that make them resistant to sinking. Therefore, claims circulating on some social media channels about the complete sinking of Naji 15 are entirely false, baseless, and stem from a lack of accurate information.
The organization expressed appreciation for public concern over maritime safety and urged citizens, social media users, and media professionals to rely on official and credible sources before reposting sensitive news, and to avoid contributing to the spread of rumors.
