Iranian, Iraqi FMs stress need for realistic approach to govern Tehran-Berlin ties

Tehran (ISNA) – In a telephone conversation between Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein, the top diplomat of the Islamic Republic of Iran thanked the Iraqi government for its efforts in starting security negotiations between Tehran and Riyadh.

Fuad Hussein also offered his congratulations on the agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia.

The Iraqi foreign minister noted that Baghdad will soon issue a formal statement on the matter.

The two sides further held talks about the recent visit by the German foreign minister to Iraq.

Amir-Abdollahian stressed that the historical and deep ties between Iran and Germany makes it necessary to replace sensational moves, which are contradictory to mutual interests, with dialogue and cooperation.

In this regard, the two foreign ministers stressed the need for a realistic approach to govern the Tehran-Berlin ties.
