Iran, Indonesia decide to carry out their exchanges with national currencies

Tehran (ISNA) – Stating that Iran and Indonesia have various fields and capacities to improve the level of relations, Iranian President expressed hope that his visit to Indonesia could have constructive effects in the direction of expanding the interactions between the two powerful Islamic countries in the region and the world, and its effects could be completed with the visit of the President of Indonesia to Tehran.

In continuation of his official visit plans to Indonesia, Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi attended a joint press conference with President Joko Widodo before noon on Tuesday, local time.

Expressing hope that the visit would lead to significant steps in the development of relations with Indonesia, he said, “In the 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have always had good interactions in various political, economic, commercial, regional and international fields”.

Referring to the goal set to bring the trade volume of the two countries to $20 billion, the President added, “Of course, the two countries have decided to carry out their exchanges with national currencies”.

President Raisi stated, “Today, the officials of the two countries signed several documents for cooperation in various fields, which shows their determination to develop relations in all fields”.

In the continuation of his speech, the President stated that despite the oppressive pressures and sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken valuable steps towards the growth of science and technology as well as economic development with the efforts of its young experts, and clarified, “Sanctions and threats have not been able to stop Iran in any way”.

Ayatollah Raisi called cooperation and communication with neighbouring and aligned Muslim countries the priority of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and noted, “Developing relations with Indonesia, as one of the important and effective countries in Asia and the world, which is a member of important regional and international organisations, is very important for Iran”.

Stating that Iran and Indonesia have common views on regional and international issues, including the Palestinian issue and the situation in Afghanistan, the President said, “The two countries are committed to supporting the rights of the Palestinian people until the liberation of the Holy Quds. Also, the views of the two countries are the same regarding the necessity of forming a comprehensive government in Afghanistan that represents all ethnic groups and religions and takes steps towards the realisation of the rights of all the people of this country”.

President Raisi added, “Today, women and girls in the Islamic Republic of Iran have an effective and successful presence in various fields and have brought pride to our country. We believe that Afghan women and girls also have the ability to bring pride to their country and the Islamic Ummah. The possibility of social activities, including benefiting from educational opportunities, should be provided for them”.

Stating that the two decades of America’s presence in Afghanistan brought nothing but destruction and killing, including 35,000 disabled children, the President said, “Iran and Indonesia are serious about fighting unilateralism in regional and international issues”.

At the end, Ayatollah Raisi stated that Iran and Indonesia have diverse and abundant fields and capacities to improve the level of their relations, and expressed hope that his visit to Indonesia could have constructive effects in the direction of expanding the interactions between the two powerful Islamic countries in the region and the world, and its effects could be completed with the visit of the President of Indonesia to Tehran.
